It is officially permanent.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Hollywood Boulevard witnessed a legendary moment in hip-hop history. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony—the iconic Cleveland group that completely redefined the sound of rap in the 1990s—were formally cemented into the sidewalk, receiving the 2,851st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

For over three decades, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone have carried a sound entirely their own. Seeing them stand together to accept this honor wasn’t just a win for the group; it was a victory lap for a style of music they pioneered against all odds.

A Turnout Like No Other

If you ever doubted the staying power of Bone Thugs, you only needed to look at the massive crowds shutting down the street at 6126 Hollywood Boulevard.

Emceed by radio legend Big Boy, the ceremony brought out the culture in full force. Longtime peers and hip-hop icons took the stage to pay their respects, including Xzibit, Ice-T, and Fat Joe.

Fat Joe perfectly captured the magnitude of the moment, recalling their early days in the industry together:

“I’ve been to ten of these and I never seen people out in the street like they out here for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony right now… When I first came in the game, we both came in the game. We were signed to the same record label, and these guys went and they was the Michael Jacksons. They went and sold 30 million records… They never acted funny with me.”

“From the Trenches to the Stars”

When the group took the microphone, the emotion was tangible. For five kids who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with limited opportunities, looking down at their own star on Hollywood Boulevard was surreal.

Flesh-n-Bone delivered a heartfelt speech summarizing their rollercoaster journey:

“From the trenches to the stars, we’ve been through it all—through the fire and the rain. We came from a place where opportunities were way too limited, so to be here standing with my brothers is something that I don’t take for granted… All we wanted to do was share a particular sound to inspire the world.”

Why This Star Matters: The Bone Thugs Blueprint

It’s impossible to talk about the landscape of modern music without acknowledging the structural changes Bone Thugs-N-Harmony brought to the genre. Before they burst onto the scene in the early ’90s, rap and R&B were largely separated by a hard line.

They shattered that boundary. By blending:

  • Rapid-fire, double-time lyrical delivery

  • Hauntingly smooth, gospel-influenced vocal harmonies

  • Raw, unflinching street storytelling

They didn’t just find a niche—they created a blueprint. The melodic rap that dominates the Billboard charts today—championed by artists over the last two decades—owes its foundational DNA to what Bone Thugs cooked up in Ohio.

Remembering Eazy-E

The ceremony was also a quiet tribute to the man who made it all possible: Eazy-E. The N.W.A legend famously discovered the group in 1993, signing them to Ruthless Records and executive producing their breakout EP, Creepin on ah Come Up.

While Eazy wasn’t there to see it, his legacy was woven into the concrete. It’s the same legacy that birthed “Tha Crossroads” in 1995—their massive, Grammy-winning tribute to him that spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

What’s Next for the Legends?

Getting a star on the Walk of Fame is usually a capstone to a career, but Bone Thugs aren’t hanging up their mics anytime soon. The group is still actively touring, keeping their timeless catalog alive for multi-generational crowds.

Later this summer, they are hitting the road alongside fellow icons for the highly anticipated “Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber Tour,” which officially kicks off on August 27 in New York.

More than 33 years after they first joined forces, the melodies are just as sharp, the harmonies are just as tight, and their place in music history is officially set in stone.

Congratulations to Krayzie, Layzie, Bizzy, Wish, and Flesh—Cleveland’s finest, and forever Hollywood royalty.
