It was a day that felt scripted by the Master of Nightmares himself! On Halloween—the most fitting date imaginable—beloved actor Robert Englund, the man who brought the razor-gloved terror Freddy Krueger to life, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was a well-deserved recognition for a career spanning decades, over 100 films, and creating one of the most iconic horror villains in cinema history.

A Star is Burned onto Hollywood Boulevard

The 2,826th star on the Walk of Fame was unveiled at 6644 Hollywood Boulevard, and the ceremony was a true celebration of horror. Englund, 78, was joined by friends, fans, and co-stars, including Heather Langenkamp, who famously played his nemesis, Nancy Thompson, in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.

Langenkamp offered a touching tribute, noting the significance of the star’s five points mirroring the five fingers of Freddy’s deadly glove. Director Eli Roth also spoke, highlighting how Englund revolutionized the slasher genre. Before Freddy, villains were “silent assassins.” Englund, a classically trained actor, infused the character with a wicked personality and one-liners that made him frighteningly fun, turning the monster into an irresistible pop culture icon.

The Man Behind the Claws

While he’s synonymous with Freddy Krueger—a role he played in eight films, beginning with Wes Craven’s 1984 masterpiece—Englund’s talent extends far beyond Elm Street. He has graced the screen in numerous films and TV series, including a memorable turn as Willie in the 1980s sci-fi hit V and a recent appearance in the latest season of Stranger Things.

During the ceremony, Englund, who even sported a Freddy glove for some pictures, paid homage to his career and thanked the legions of devoted fans who’ve supported him.

“I wouldn’t be here without the fans,” Englund said, acknowledging the “cult-like fan base” that turned A Nightmare on Elm Street into an international phenomenon.

It was an unforgettable day that cemented Robert Englund’s legacy as a true Horror Icon and ensured that a piece of Freddy Krueger will forever haunt Hollywood Boulevard.

Thank you and God Bless!
